“Don’t judge a book by its cover”

Updated: Jan 24, 2021

Be kind to the people you meet and the people around you. As the saying goes, “don’t judge a book by its cover”. They may look happy and okay on the outside, but you don’t know what the person is going through on the inside. People tend to hide behind the mask they created to protect themselves. They do it as a defense mechanism and to project that they are strong. Sometimes, it’s their way of coping and we all have different coping mechanism.

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First, get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.”

- Matthew 7:1-5 NLT

My favorite part of the bible verse 👆 is – “why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?” We’re so good at judging others and pointing out their faults when we forget to check ourselves.

Before you even speak about someone, make sure to evaluate yourself first. Sometimes, people are too good to pretend all “goodie goodie” when they themselves are guilty. Such hypocrites.

Quit assuming you know it all when you don’t. Mind your own business. Worry about your journey. Focus on yourself and quit gossiping about other people. Such a waste of energy.

With that said, be careful of energy vampires. It’s all about the vibe. Be careful about the energy you allow in your life, they can influence yours and what’s worse is they become you.
